Easter At Grandma and Grandpa's

We spent a wonderful afternoon at mom and dad's for Easter after going to church (late service of course, 4 women getting all prettied up takes a few hours). Mom as usual fixed a great meal and held the annual Easter egg hunt with the help of Dave hiding around 50 eggs outside and a dozen inside the house. All the grandkids and everyone else had a good time searching around out in the yard for the treasure.  The afternoon was spent lounging around and eating, again, there is no lack of food and I don't think anyone goes home hungry.
As gifts to the grandkids, grandma and grandpa bought kitchen aprons for the girls and a tool pouch (John Deere of course) for Andrew, they were all excited to get them and enjoyed wearing them around the house. Grandma is a good teacher for all the girls in the kitchen and hopes to keep the tradition of good cooking to the next generation of our family.

Andrew's Night Out

A couple weeks ago we invited my nephew Andrew Brinkmann to come and spend the night with us, Kailee and Emma were excited to have Andrew and it would be a good experience for him to see how well he would do away from his mom and dad. With the exception of just one short moment of nervousness around bedtime Andrew did great and spent the night with the us. I was just happy to have another 'man' in the house with a house full of girls. In the picture, Andrew and the girls got to dog sit Derby for about an hour, I am pretty sure Derby slept well after just an hour after of being with these three.

Emma's Party

Last weekend Emma had her 7th birthday party (holy cow she is 7) with her friends, she wanted to have a swim party so Kristina got everything together and pulled off a pretty fun party. She got some nice presents from her friends and spent 2 hours swimming and eating cupcakes and ice cream. Kailee was happy with Emma's choice of a party, she loves to swim and swims almost everyday during the summer.

Trying to get that great shot

On another trip around the area I saw off in the distance what I thought looked like a bald eagle, I was able to get a bit closer and snapped a few photos of it. There isn't much detail of it as I was along ways away when I took this photo, I got out of the car and walked about 15 feet into a muddy field when I looked up from cursing the mud and the eagle had taken off and was even further away. I think I have a lot to learn about trying to get that "great" shot, but I was happy I was able to get a few of this beautiful bird.
With all the recent snow melt and rain our area has seen it's fair share of flooding again, the one picture is of a highway about 6 miles north of Vermillion, it's suppose to be the Vermillion River and in many places it has turned into Vermillion Lake. The second picture is again of the Vermillion River just south of Vermillion, Emma is standing on a bike path that we use when not covered in water. Her and I went flood watching and she had a real good time with her old dad.

My First Blog

Well here it goes, my first attempt at blogging. I have to admit, I don't know how well this is going to work out, but I thought I would give it a try. I don't have any particular reason for wanting to do this, I just thought it might be interesting to see what is involved and challenge myself to keep updating the blog.
Anyway, my first post includes a picture of my family (picture taken by my brother Curt who has his own photography business called Life's A Story Photography, you can find his website here: www.lifesastoryphotography.com) The picture includes my wife Kristina (Kris as many call her) and our three daughters, Brianna (the eldest), Kailee (the dreaded middle child) and Emma (the one that helped us make the decision to not have any more children, just kidding Emma). Stay tuned, I hope to have regular updates that will somehow keep you interested and checking back every now and then.
